BIPED’S MONITOR

“Biped’s Monitor will create a leafy haven in a secret urban location” The Times Saturday Review

Arbonauts invite you to roam through a series of surreal installations in the trees and chapel of Nunhead Cemetery, one of London’s Magnificent Seven. Allow characters and events to unfold above and around you as the Baron takes to the trees and orates from his utopian manifesto of Arboria.

BIPED’S MONITOR is a unique theatrical experience presented by ARBONAUTS. Created for the chapel and trees of Nunhead Cemetery and performed at nightfall. Based on Italo Calvino’s extraordinary folk tale The Baron in the Trees. Musical scores composed by Louise Drewette and Alex Nikiporenko (BBC/Guardian Young Composer of the Year), and sublime soloist Daisy Chute singing the Arboreal Aria.

In eighteenth-century Italy a young nobleman rebels against his family and class, taking to the trees. He lives out his life in the canopy, befriending flora, fauna, outlaws, magicians, politicians, philosophers, and women.

£2 from each ticket was donated to the Nunhead Cemetery Renovation Fund
